Dying Sunflower I had been taking some photographs of flowers in Stephen's Green a week or two ago, and I couldn't help but notice this poor fellow. I'm guessing with the constant rain of the last few months, flowers that require a good deal of sun aren't doing too well. Yet, despite the decay and sadness, it does make a beautiful image in the starkness of it.

For those interested in the technical details: The image was taken on a Nikon D700 with 28-300 lens. I gave it a little bit of "help" in Lightroom and I also used a tiny bit of Nik Software's excellent Colour Efex Pro 4 to bring out some of the detail in the head.
