Dublin Fog with the Fuji X-E1

Dublin Fog with the Fuji X-E1

There was an unusually foggy day here in Dublin about two weeks ago. Not just a little foggy, but pea soup kind of fog. I had been heading into the city anyway, so I brought my trusty little Fuji with me to get some pictures of the murk.

We don't really get that much really heavy fog in Dublin, maybe a few times a year, so I was delighted to have been in a position to capture it. The rolling grey wall made the streets take on an eeriness, but there was also something comforting about it, like the way a cosy fire on a cold winter's night makes you feel. As I walked through the city, the fog was thicker in some spots and almost gone in others. By the time I finished the trip, it had mostly evaporated.

I had been expecting the Fuji to have difficulty focussing in the low contrast environment, but it performed admirably. There were a few times where it had a little difficulty, but increasing the size of the focus area solved the problem. For processing, I stayed with Lightroom, and mostly used VSCO Film 1 (and most were using the Kodak Porta 400 preset) although a few were treated using my yet to be released Film Candy 2 presets. (They're coming soon, honest!)

Here's a selection of images from my short walk in the fog that day:
