Jun 18 Summer Flowers - Sony A6000 with Nikon 24-120

When I wrote recently about trying out Nikon lenses on the Sony A6000, I noted at what a difference it made compared to Sony lenses that I own. Well, as I have quite a bit of Nikon glass, I tried shooting again with one of my best Nikon lenses, the 24-120 f/4. The 24-120 is a great lens. Not only is it quite sharp, but it has great colour and light transmission, and images from it always look gorgeous. There are some really nice and unusual flowers in the local park here in Dublin, so I decided to try out the combination to see what kind of results I would get.

I'm really happy with the shots, in fact, image quality wise, they're great. Colours are amazing and they're pretty sharp too, considering I was shooting these hand held and manually focussing. Manually focussing with the 24-120 was pretty easy with the focus peaking feature. I would occasionally have to use the focus assist zoom feature to double check, but for the most part, I was able to rely on just focus peaking.

These flowers are all in Dublin's beautiful Stephen's Green Park, which is full of life at this time of the year. The weather was a bit overcast, which is actually the perfect conditions for shooting flowers as you get a nice soft light. Here's a selection of some of the shots I took on the day.
