Video: Capture One Quick Tip - Purple Fringing Control

In this short quick tip for Capture One, I look at how to use the purple fringing control to get rid of chromatic aberration that’s not addressed by the normal aberration correction tool.

While Capture One does chromatic aberration reduction as part of its lens correction process, like other software it only corrects one type of aberration, and sometimes this can lead to some fringing left behind. This is where the “Purple Fringing” tool comes in. Don’t be put off by the name though, as it doesn’t just fix “purple” fringing, but will also work if it is red, and to a lesser extent blue too.

In this video i take a quick look at using the tool. Note that the image I used in this demonstration was chosen because you could clearly see the fringing, not because I thought that it was a good image. I deliberately chose an image where you could see the fringing.

I also mentioned that you can’t see the effects of this tool when zoomed out due to Capture One’s preview limitations, which I covered in an article last week.
