This is one of of the first pictures I ever took with a digital camera. Well, sorry, with a digital SLR. I took this in 2004 using my then brand new Canon Eos 300D. In fact it was in the very first batch of pictures I took with it, and to this day it remains one of my favorites. If I was to take it again today, I probably would have focussed on the number and not the front, or perhaps even stop down a bit to get both in focus. Still, there’s something about this image that I love. I don’t know what it is. Perhaps it’s just nostalgia. The boat of course is long since gone. The whole area where I took it has dramatically changed in fact, but then I guess this is true of any area in these times.

I’ve been pretty sick having caught a nasty bacterial flu which in turn gave me bronchitis and tracheitis (a lovely combination). So this has pretty much been my view for the last few days. Not exactly a rich tapestry of photographic opportunity, but anyway. Hopefully I’ll get back to posting again soon.

Ok, I’m doing this early today because I haven’t really posted the last few days

On monday Ricoh unveiled the GR Digital III digital compact. The GR Digital series is widely regarded as one of the best compact cameras on the market and this new version offers quite a few improvements, including an impressive ability to shoot up to 5 raw files in burst mode.

Likecool.com has a beautiful series of Landscape images by Photographer Marcin Sacha.

“Small Victory” is the latest in the series of excellent photographs from the “little people” street art project. If you haven’t seen this site before you should check it out. It’s a brilliant project and there are some really clever images on there.

Digital Photography School has a good tutorial on how to use textures to enhance your Images, a technique that seems to be popular right now.

Carl Ryttrfalk has a beautiful series of Images taken in China using the Sigma DP1 and DP2. They are a testament to both his artistry as a photographer and the quality of the Sigma Cameras. Well worth a look.
